Dearest family and friends,

I hope you guys enjoyed the Conference.

We had black out 10 minutes before the conference so I was praying to get the electricity back RIGHT AWAY!!!! We missed President Manson. but we got the electricity back right away. I was sick!

I watched in English in our front room then Evan watched in Portugues in the conputer room.

The choir by missionaries were so sweet! When one of the Seventy(?) tolked about single mother, she said she cannot handle it so she asked  HF "Can I go home to you?" And HE said "No, but I will come to you!" I almost chocked up.

It is so nice to be able to the conference through internet!!!

My main activities were clean both bathrooms!! Wonderful, isn't it?

I guess we will stay home just like today and watch conference on the conputers.

Enjoy Conference tomorrow again!!!

I miss and love you!!!!

Dearest family and friends,

Another cold day. I had to weare sweater!!! So far the summer has been great. No wonder no one has air conditioner!

We still felt little sicky so we ate lunch at home. So I coulod not get MY Gardinia. On the way home I was going to get few but we saw people we know so I stopped.
I put the flowers into punkin so she smells so good!

Today we received a huge package of chocolate and cookies from Nobuko. We were so excited!!! I don't think we will share them with others. I have been very selfish.

the animal planet said " Small dog syndrom is that they think they are the king or queen of the house" Wow! So true, isn't it?

Tomorrow is Saturday so we think we will go to the temple and I will study Portugues! One of the sister missionary let me borrow CD for Portugues. I hope it helps!! We will see. I went to the drag store yesterday and I found Sensodyne Pronamel tooth paste which I use! I was so excited!!!

Today was fun working with Evan. We were working on closing one of the project. We had to write down how that helped. (Donated Refegerator) So Evan asked me what we should write so I told him "Because of it, the stomack problems decreased. or They can keep food until in Ref almost spoiled". We were laughing together.

We are usually more serious but today was great becuase we got the package from Nobuko in Germany. Their chocolates are so much better than ones here!

Today Evan went to the bread store and found Marasada. So of course he wanted me to have a bite. It was sooooooo sweetest and custard cream was inside .I almost lost few teeth! But Evan was happy!!!

He also got mandarin orange and it did not look good at all but it was so nice and sweet and delicious.

Well I hope all is well!!

That Elders can move his arms and legs but still long long ways to go!!

I miss and love you all

Dearest famly and friends,

Today we had lunch at the temple and Evan and I got sick. Both of us were not feeling good.

Sister Scadden needed my help so I stayed until 4:30 then Evan took me home. Evan never lets me go home alone. Evan did not come home until 6:30pm. He was feeling better and bought himself Tuna sandwiches. Even though I did not want to have a bite because I was still not feeling well, he insisted me to have a bite. Everytime he force me to have a bite of something, it is not good most of the time. But I just wanted to please him. so I did. It was OK but had very strong tuna smell! That did not help me feel better!

The temple was closed for two weeks and during that time, MY gardinia started blooming. I took two of them and stuffed them into Punkin. There are still a lot for me. I was so excited!!!

Today one person brought desert, coconut pudding! And of course Evan forced me to try it but THIS I refused to try. And I was glad. I would have been so much sicker! Even Sister Scadden said it was so sweet! If she says that it is unbearably sweet.

I am hoping that I can go to the temple tomorrow night. I hope I feel better!

I miss and love you so much!!!

A Wonderful Day

We had a wonderful day today. We got to spend the morning with the missionaries of the Brazil Sao Paulo East Mission. All 182 of the Lords servants. What a glorious site to see. I could picture Elder Schenk sitting right there with them, with his big beautiful smile singing, "Called To Serve". It was a very touching, spiritual uplifting meeting. We we're grateful to be able to talk to the missionaries and give them our love and support. It was great to give heart felt hugs to his companions and friends. When we got back to the hospital Britt was back from the tracheostomy . He looked tired but so much better without that miserable ventilator tube. With minimal sedation he was moving all 4 limbs and opening one eye enough that they icreased the sedation slightly to keep him calm. The Dr. said that his lungs and pneumonia are improving each day. One of the nurses said, "He was resting and not moving until he heard his mother's voice. He must love his mother." w We are humbled and excited to see the Miracles each day. We continue it be amazed by the spirit and support we receive each day. Our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live and love us all. All our love, Steven and Karla.

Dearest family and friends,

Today it was almost freezing!!! You never know what kind of weather we will have.

Evan showed me how to use the computer program but it is so complecated. I don't think he is a good teacher.

Today we had lunch at home and they told me that the Temple had my favorite fish!!! I missed it!!!

We are working on "Kodomono Sono"project. (Children's home for mentally very slow)
We thought it was for children but it isn't. They founded 58 years ago so by now they are all grown up. It is just like Kibo no-sono we are working on.
We are planning to go and visit next Tuesday.
I was little disappointed that this is not for small children. But we will see what we can do for them.

Amy Ray told me that she might have to have surgery on May 22nd unless they have cancelations. I wish I could be there to help her.

Evan is watching game again. I absolutly hate it!

Well I'd better get ready for bed.

I miss and love you tons.

Dearest friends and family,

Today the temple was open so there were so many people there for lunch.

But the menue was not the best. Beans and sasages and fried lever. Evan did not know it was lever and did not like it. Glad I did not get it. What we do is that we get whatever we want then they weight the plate and tells us how much we owe. Today was not that great; chicken was soooo dry that if you drop it, it would have made a loud noise.

It started out so hot today and by the time we are ready to go home, it started raining so hard and almost cold! Evan had to stay longer so I got home with Elder and Sist Scadden. And luckily one of the brothern who works in our office had a car and took us home.!!!

Today was not busy for me and I hate that.
But Evan is giving me more jobs tomorrow so I can't wait!!! I need to keep myself busy!!

I was not feeling that great so Elder Scadden came to give me a blessing. Don't worry, I am doing just fine.More mental than physical!

I miss you guys so much anhd I love you!!!!!

Dearest family and friends,

Evan just told me that someone told him that the elder is doing little bit better and we are all hopeful.
When nurse asked him to squeeze her hand he DID! Then when she asked him to raise his hand, he raised to his chest. That is all we know but we feel that is mirakle and doctors there just could not believe it. We feel so hopeful, maybe we should not be so much. But we know the miracle happens! Especially to Missionaries. Not one missionary was lost during that Tsunami and earth quake in Japan!!!That is amazing!!! Hevenly Father sure love and watch over them!!!

As soon as I come to the computer room, Evan changes the channel to game or movie. They don't have good movie here. I think he is watching Jacky Chan movie! We watched "Tooth fairly" last night! I love Rocky so that was fine.

Well that is all for tonight. Keep praying for that Elder. He still has long way to go!!!

I miss and love you all.

Hiroko
Dearest family and friends,

I gave Evan a hair cut and he looks great. We saved about $25.00!!! It has been more than 40 years since I gave him hair cut. I used to do it all the time but I got to busy.

Another hot day! tomorrow the Temple will open so everybody is so excited to have lunch there. I am getting sick of sandwiches for two weeks. Can´t wait!!

Nwext time when you send me a package, can you put the powder for regular spagettii meat sauce?
I can´t wait to get Costco´s lental chili beans. Anything simple likt that will be great!

We mailed the Pitta´s letter to Aiko and costed $9.00 for the postage!!! Can you believe that? Truely everything is so expensive here. I forgot to keep the A-mail address of Pitta´s teacher. Can you sen it to me? I just wanted to explain that mail system is so slow that Pitta´s letter might not make it by May 14th. I am worried about that.

Today is another slow day and I hate that!
Evan is too busy to give me things to do.

Have a great day!!!

I miss and love you!!!

Dearest framily and friends,

I had a horroble night last night. I woke up with pain in a stomack and had to through up.
I have no idea what caused it. I am feeling much better. But I did not go to church today.

Amy how is your knee? When are you going to have surgery? I hope RS people are going to help you!

I don't know much about Elder but I am hoping that he is doing better.

I think I am going to bed early. Pumkin sure made me feel better last night!!!
Thank you Barbara!!

I miss and love you!!!

Dearest family and friends,

Brandon, how are you doing? Are you able to eat something now?

Today I had ear and headach so I did not go to the office. I feel so much better now and only thing I needed was a long nice nap. Evan said he really needed me today and I felt little bad!!!

We don't know anything about Elder but I did not see anything on his blog so I hope he is doing better.

We have no idea what we are going to do tomorrow, Saturday. Most likely the weekly clean up again. Or we might go to eat lunch or something. It gets so dusty in the house becuase all the windows are wide open.

Sorry for nothing exciting news today.

I hope all is well with you guys!!! How is Bear doing? Do boys like him now?

I miss and love you tons.

Dearest friends and family,

It is a hot hot day!
We ate lunch at home then went to the office.

The Elder is doing about the same . and his blog is:Elderbrittenschenk.blogspot.com.br.

.
My heart is so heavy thinking about his family. But I am so glad that his parents are here.

I am not kidding but I had to give Punkin a hair cut today. It was growing!!!
I am not seniled yet. They were laughing at me though.

The project we were working was approved so we are very happy. They are going to start buying materials to build so that they will have a place to play.

I miss and love you so much!!!

Dearest family and friends,

I am so proud of Brandon. He is smiling after they took his tunsil out.! He did not evern cry.
I wish I could be there with him!!!

I found the blog for that Elder's family. I will let you know tomorrow. He is still in very criticle condition but they said he moved his hands. That means he has some brain activities. His parents arrived last night and now they are with him, I am sure that is a great help and comfort for Elder and his parents.
He is from Cash Valley in Utah so Jen might know that family.

We all feel little better knowing his parents are there with him and they said it is little better than yesterday.
But not out of danger yet at all.
All we thinkg about is that Elder and hope everything is going to work out for him and his family. Everytime I see buses, they made me sick!!!

Todays high light of the day is that I was able to pet the cute puppy!

I miss and love you all!!! I really want to see you guys!!!

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Dearest friends and famlily,

Elder is not good at all. They are just waiting for his parent to arrive on Wednesday and they will decide what they are going to do. Yes, the whole oaaice is very low and our hearts are so heavy. They said there is no brain activities at all.

Today I had to translate the letter from Japan. It was a letter from the bishop in Japan regarding one of the Bishop's Court. It is not fun to do something so negative and so secretive!

Tomorrow we, Evan and I, are going to try to get another project. We will see.

Evan got figs which were not that great and we were so disapppointed. Then he got small pears. They taste great but they are small as the size of an egg!

It is Fall here and it is getting cooler. I love it.

I heard that Amy has to have knee surgery. I hope everything will go well for her.

We have not heard great news lately and It has been so hard to be cheerful especially thinking about the Elder and his family.

I told you over and over how dangerous the buses are here!Buses are all over. Even small side street, you see the buses going so fast!!! When we try to cross the small alley, all of sudden huge bus appears!!!
It is so loud and we can hear the loud noise from our bedroom and makes me sick. Only thing good about bus is free fo "over 65, pregnant, with kids and over weight people" How do you tell over weight person,"Hey! Here is a seat for you becouse......You ......are little bit.....fat?"

Sunset is beautiful right now. That is one thing makes me happy.

Well I really miss you all especially time like this I need family and friends!!!

I love you!!!!

Dearest family and friends,

Elder is still in the critical condition. They are putting him under enduced coma until brain's swalling goes down.
I guess his parents finally got the visa and they will be here on Wednesday. Then they might have to decide if they should unplug the life suporter. What a difficult decision they have to make.
We are all sick about this.

We had a birthday lunch at the Pizza restaurant, where they did not serve Pizza!!! Can't figure it out!!!! One of our Elder's birthday and his wife paid for everybody.
But we had a nice buffee and I was stuffed anyway. They served desert before everybody finished eating. I got flan but once again it was sooooo sweet. I should have known better!!!
Evan had a coconut pudding and it was too sweet plus coconut which I don't like. Jen you would have hated!!!  They love coconuts and I have to be so careful when I eat candy. They contain either coconut or peanuts.

It was a busy day but I like it that way. I hate it when I have nothing to do.

Amy, please let me know what the doctor said about your knee!!!

I miss and love you so much!!!

Dearest family and friends,

As of now we have no news about that Elder. Hope that "No News" is good news.
We really have been sick about that!

Today I guess I was too slow so we left the apt little later than usual. Then Evan took the wrong bus. (Of course it was my fault. We did not see any taxi and we had to walk back to the main road.
My leg has been so painful and it did not help to walk up the hill!

I was so tired today so took a nap as soon as I got back (3:30)pm). Then I fell a sleep until almost 7:00! So we missed Sumou. Evan went for walk but I did not even know that he left.

I understand Tahoe had some snow finally! That is wonderful.

It was really cool almost cold. But of course I love it!

Today the translator for RS and Sunday school was not there. It was painful to sit through with no idea what is going on!!!
I can pick up few wards, but no idea what they are saying. I have been here almost 3 months. No improvment!!!!

I don't know how but I am getting sleepy! I heard that Brandon has to have his tunsil removed on
Wendsday. Poor baby. I wish I could be there with him.

I miss and love you!

Dearest family and friends,

We have a very disturbing news here in our Stake.
One of the Elder ,who was ready to go home in 4 months, was hit by a bus and hurt really badly.
I will aattached to you the message from our doctor Elder's wife's E-mail.
He is still very serious condition. I told you how crazy buses here are!! Elder was walking the side street!!!Don't worry, Evan and I will be extra coucious from now on. It is so true that cars turn even if there are people crossing. Pedestrians have no right in Sao Paulo! We have to make sure that the car or buses are not even near us!

The doctor's wife sent: Some good news.   When Rick got to the hospital and talked with the surgeons, it seems that when they operated they found very little blood around the brain, just swelling.  The prognosis is now much better, but he still has a long way to go.   Other labs and diagnostics look good and he is still in a drug induced Coma to keep things quiet while swelling goes down and healing can take place.     When they were coming out of the room a couple was standing outside the door.   The woman was the bus driver that hit the Elder.  She was beside herself and had not slept all night.  Her husband explained that it was night and she was turning the same corner as the Elder just stepped off of.   They just did not see each other.   She says she is not going to drive bus anymore.   What a sweet lady.  She was in tears the whole time.  When Rick called the parents a few minutes ago he told them about her, they are so anxious to meet her and thank her for her concern and hold no ill will toward her. Salt Lake is trying to expedite their visas and passports so that they can be here by Wednesday.  Thank you again for all your prayers and keep them coming.  He is not out of the woods yet.

I am so sick about this!!! We all are!! I should not blaim HF but I feel like doing that.

Today was Saturday so we stayed home all day and did the wash and swept the house. You know we have no vacume cleaner.
I still have pain in my right leg and headach but that is nothing! I can handle that.
I ate Oatmeal three times today. I was too lazy to fix anything.

Joey told me that Punkin got so fat while they were gone. I had never seen her on their bed and I was wonderring where she was. They have ICam (Video in their house so I can see Punkin when she is on the bed) but I guess she was in the bathroom eating whole time!!!

I really miss and love you!!!

Dearest family and friends,

It was a perfect day weather-wise.
No jokes today. Sorry.

I was busy helping Sis Scudden for the Perpetuarl Edication Fund. It is so complecated. I hope I don't have to take over her job after she leaves in Nov.

People keep coming back to our room because Evan has a box of Chocolates!!! Brasilian chocolates are soooo sweet. I do miss See's!

I have been having pain on my right leg just like right after the surgery. So he was massaging my leg and got so tired. Then I woke up to go to the bathroom around 11:30 and saw a huge cockroach! So I had to wake him up. Poor Evan he was so tired today. It was big!!!!! I hate them.

Evan had so much fun going to the game las night. He said the team he and Paty want to win won 3-0.     Yeah!!!!I was very happy and excited!!!

Well, I do miss you and love you all!!

Dearest Family and friends,

Today I was not feeling well and Evan told me that it is not a busy day so I stayed home.

Evan told me two jokes one of Elder told Evan.

He is older than us and so funny.

1, There was one patient in the phychiatic ward. He always hold his one hand on his chest because he is a Napolion. So someone  asked him why you think you are Napolion. Then he said"Because God told me" Then right away one guy next to him told that man "No I didn't".

2. One patient was putting his ear on the wall listning something. So one guy asked him what are you doin? I don't hear anything. Then that guy told him " I know I have been trying to listen for the last 25 years but cna't hear anything.

I guess it is not that funny when you read them. But I hope you find them funny.

Evan wanted to go for a walk after work but since Sumou was on, he did not.

According to the weather report, there are going to snow or rain in Sparks. I hope that is true!!!

Well, no spiritual experience today but hope you enjoyed jokes.
His name is Elder Urray and he can remember jokes just like unkle Joey or Paul.
We really enjoy him!!!

I miss and love you!!!

Dearest family and friends,

It is soooo hot today! I am dying. At least the office is cooler.
Today we had Sushi for lunch from across our street. No that good but it was OK. Too much rice!

There are tons of cloud so I guess it will rain. Poor Evan. He is going to the Succor game tonight.

This morning while Evan was not home the building office called me. No idea what she was saying but I thing she said no water in the kitchen. Only two words I understood was water and kitchen. So I am just guessing. Well we will see.I could have asked "No water in the kitchen?" but it did not come out. Telephone is so hard.

So how do you like my Pankin Barbaramade for me?
I finally gave up carrying her out side. Evan said people are looking at me funny. I guess they think I have Altzhimer or something.
So she has to be in Evan's back pack.I can't believe that he was embarrased. I wasn't!

Today we are still having audit from SLC so everybody is busy.
It does not make any difference to me at all!

Well, I miss you and love you all.

Thank you Barbara!

Hiroko even takes her to the ofice!

Dearest family and friends,

Amy, your dog, Bear, is so cute!! How did you find that dog? He is so adorable!!!

Today, I was helping Sister Scudden for PEF (Purpetual Education Fund). Evan hates our computer program! Do you remember how he hated Vorizon long time ago? Now he is so frustrated by Micro soft, ward and Excel. He is having hard time learning new programs.

I have to give a spiritual talk next Monday morning, so I was working on Google translation. Yes I am going to try in Portugues!

Today our water in the apartment is not running.
They told us it will be just for one hour but it has been more than 6 hours!!!
Hope it works soon!

At least we have drinking water so that is good. but no toilet water!

The guy in next room came twice to tell me how cute my dog is becuse I told him he will get chocolate if he says that. I love that man. He absolutely addicted with Chocolate. Brazilian really love chocolate or anything sweet.

They told me that we have no heater in our office nor apartment so I started knitting maffler. Hope it will be done by winter!

Evan and I watched Sumou again and had a great time.

It has been raining again but I hope it will be clear tomorrow night becuase Evan is going to
succor game with Paty and her husband. No, I am not going and am not even invited either. No desire to go!
I hate that Gooooooooooal!! call.

I miss and love you!!!

Hiroko

Dearest Family and Friends,

We had rain and thunder all afternoon. It is really scarely.
Thank goodness Punkin was not scared.
For your information, Punkin is my stuffed animal which my friend made for me. I left my beloved dog at home and I am missing her so much. I know Evan thinks I am crazy carring her whereever I go. I mean where ever! I even take her to the office.
I think they should change the rule for Senior missionary that we can take our pet with us.

Tim, my grandson just got baptised today and how I wish I could have been there. I am so proud of him.

Today was Sunday but Evan went to his friends (Patty) house so I did not go anywhere due to my headach. Evan didnot want me to go to church either. Because when I get off the bus, it is almost like getting off from moving roller coaster! I am serious. Sometimes, he does not even close the door!!!
Evan left home around 12:00pm and did not get to their house unil almost 2:30.  Evan was so glad that I did not go.I was so worried. He took the wrong train station! He had to wait outside under the sun for 2 hours!!!Yes, I am glad I did not go.

Sumou (Japanese wrestling) season started so we are very happy.

It has been a year since that earth quake and Tunami ruined Japan. It seems like lot long ago.

How are you missionaries buddys at MTC? Hope all is well. Keep in touch!!! I do miss you and think about you often.
Patty told Evan  that I speak Portuges with no accents. I only said to her was Hi, How are you? and You? That is it!
So she thought I now speak Portugese well that she kept talking and I had no idea!!!

Well, I'd better go now.
MTC friends, hope to hear from you!!

Miss and love you!!!

Hiroko

Evan's comments:
I was able to finally meet the owner and wife of "Mr. Cheney's Cookies"! He saw our name tags in the temple cafeteria and asked if we knew Jay Cheney.  He is a really nice humble guy and appears on his way to become even richer here in Brazil. I think he has 8 or 9 franchises already, 3 in São Paulo alone.
He will be visiting Jay and then Utah in a couple of weeks.
The humanitarian missionary work keeps piling up--there's so much to do that it's impossible to do it all. So we just have to trust the Lord to lead us to do the most important things first.
Here's a typical example:
--Soon after arriving in Brazil, the Welfare Director over all of Brazil said that since Hiroko speaks Japanese and since the church hasn't made many inroads into the Japanese community here in São Paulo (there are a million Japanese-Brazilians here) maybe we should look into finding a welfare project for a Japenese organization.
After settling in our apartment and getting over the jet lag, and learning the bus and subway systems we looked-up some Japanese organizations, visited the Japanese cultural area here in São Paulo a few times and made a list of potential organizations. (all this was sandwiched in between learning our way around São Paulo, doing all the other welfare assignments, finding a ward to attend, etc.)
--After a few more weeks and after going over the Japanese list a number of times we couldn’t figure out how to do anything for any of the organizations, so we stopped looking for awhile.
--Then one day, for some reason I brought up the Japanese potential organization list again and kinda zeroed-in on one of them that takes care of mentally handicapped people. We hadn’t considered it before since it is about an hour and a half away from São Paulo and we have no car, and there are plenty of other welfare opportunities right here in the city (of 22 million!). But I thought that we could at least try to make a phone call, and after several atempts at trying to communicate in Portuguese over the phone (it’s really hard for me to understand Portuguese over the phone) I was finally able to find someone who spoke Japanese and gladly handed the phone to Hiroko. She found out that this organization had a small administrative office close to downtown, so she set-up an appointment to visit the director there. It was just to see if they were a good organization or not and if they would meet the Church’s criteria for help.
--About a week later on a Friday, and on a really hot humid day, and after riding buses and subways and searching for the address along busy streets we finally found the office. We had to figure out how to get them to let us in and who to talk to and it looked like we weren’t going to be able to talk to anyone when finally the man Hiroko had talked to heard us talking and came to meet Hiroko. Up to this point, if you had asked me, I felt that we had probably wasted way too much time in trying to do something for the Japanese community! But the man invited us to sit down in a tiny, crowded room and He and Hiroko began talking in Japanese. Every once in a while I would ask Hiroko to ask him something and she would then continue the conversation.
--As we left the meeting we both felt really good about the organization.
--On Monday the Welfare Director asked us about our meeting and after our comments he said that maybe we should follow-up and visit the actual facility in the other city. We both had felt that we should, so Hiroko again used her Japanese to set-up an appointment to visit the care center. It  wasn’t easy for her to make all the arrangements, but she finally was able to.
--The director who we had met with previously drove us to and from the treatment center. We went with another one of the Church’s welfare services employees (Marcos, a great member who we consider to be “the salt of the earth”).  We were so impressed with the care, organization and love that the staff had for these patients. The staff treated us like royalty and eagerly showed us what they are trying to do to help their patients. It was kinda hard to hold back the tears (and of course Hiroko couldn’t). We all felt the Spirit so strong at that place.  So of course when we reported back to the Welfare Director, he wanted us to initiate the process for helping them, which of course we did. And not surprisingly, it was approved by the Church.  We will now be spending a lot of time developing this welfare project with them.
--If this were the only reason for us to come to Brazil then our mission would already be worth it!
Of course there are other examples of the Lord guiding welfare missionaries and church leaders to all to the orphanages, poor communities without water or sufficient food, hospitals, run-down day care centers, neo-natal resuscitation, womens shelters, even a community of native brazilians (lamanites of course) way out in the country that need our assistance.
As I’ve always said, I’m loving every minute of every day here. It is truly an amazing experience to see the hand of the Lord as he guides us to the people he wants us to care for.
We love you all,
Chau

Dearest family and friends,

It was such a warm and beautiful day when we left for the Temple. Then when we were readly to leave it started raining and thandering so hard. I was even gettin cold!!
We went to the temple about 10:15 for 11:00 session but there were too many people so we had to wait until 12:00session. The temple will be closed for two weeks so there were lots of people.

Dad and I agreed that people in the temple here, people talks really loud. I mean in regular voice. No whispering! It was the loudest today. And the sister who sat next to us was snoring so loud!! I am not joking. Really really loud.
It was so wonderful to be there.

It is still raining heavely and thander is rolling.

Dearest family and friends,

It is Friday and nice and cool.
I don't have much to write today because I had another bad headach so I stayed home with Punkin. I know you might think I am crazy but I am so attached to her now.

Last night Evan touched her and immediately took his hand away from her so that she would not lick his hand!!!!
I kiss her on her mouth and he cannot complain about that.

Last night Patty called and wanted to go to the temple so Evan went but I did not since it was too late. I really want to go tomorrow since the Temple will be closed for 2 weeks.

We have not had rain for few weeks now. But they are expecting it tomorrow.
I love it.

Well, hope all is well and I miss you guys!!!
I love you!!!!

Dearest family and friends,

Today was an audit day so we had several brotheren came and visit us from Salt Lake. But they all said they are very impressed our work!!!
Our leaders were all so releaved!!

Hot during the day but it became very cool by 5:00. Evan said he was going for walk but got too tired and sleeping on the couch,

Today one lady thought Punkin was real and said "Oh, she is so cute!!" I was kind of proud of her. She spent all day in the office and no complains!!!

I am sorry that I talk about Punkin too much. But if you see her you will understand. I really don't know how Barbara made her!!

Well Punkin is getting tired so I would better go to sleep!

I miss and love you!!

Dearest family and friends,

Yes, Punkin is doing fine. She slept in my arm last night and stayed until we woke up.

I carried her in my arm to go to the temple and I think Evan is embarrased a little. But who cares!!!

One of the guy in our building comes in to our room and he has to say"How cute your dog is!" in order to get chocolate from us.

She really is cute. On the way home, I held her in my arm and people could not figure out if that is real or what. One of the brotheren thought it was real dog!!

It was a busy day but Punkin just sit on my lap and I loved it. I know I am crazy. But it really helps me.
I used to see old women carring dolls as if they are real babies. And I used to think that is crazy! But now that is exactly what I am doing.

We had lunch at the temple and I got sick again. My dinner was oatmeal again.

It is nice and cool tonight! I love it. Evan is using bath towel as a blanket!!!

We are so different! He is going to die during winter since we have no heater!.

Well Barbara, once again, thank you for making me Punkin. I absolutely love her.

I miss and love you so much!!!

This is Evan:
We are so happy to be able to help the home for the mentally handicapped that we visited.
It's a long story about how we finally got to the point of getting permission for this project.  I'll just say it took almost 3 months of being carefully guided by the Lord to finally reach the conclusion that the Lord wanted. What a great experience we had. I'll have to tell you when I have more time and can write a long blog. Right now we are swamped with things to do for our humanitarian projects.
Attached is a couple of photos of a street vendor who has the absolutely best tasting bananas. He's the most humble, nicest guy you'll ever meet. His prices are so low that I always give him more than he asks. So today I asked for the most expensive thing he had to sell and it was a jar of honey. Hey, I LOVE  honey! So I put it on toast with a sprinkle of cinnamon (which the internet says is really good for old guys to help them avoid cancer). So of course I bought it and had it for dinner.
Have you ever had sliced bananas on toast with honey and cinnamon? You haven't lived until you've eaten it here from our street vendor!

Look close in the middle of his cart and you'll see my jar of honey

My buddy

Another street vendor peddling his treats right in front of the temple (so who could go wrong buying from him?)--his boss is a mormon! (so I gave him a pass-along card and he said "thanks")

This is what this second street vendor was selling--a super delicious ice cream/sherbet kinda mixture of acai (the dark bowl)and cupuacu (the white bowl), as you can read from his banner. Just like at Baskin Robbins, he gave me a tiny plastic spoonful to taste-test it and I bought the biggest portion he sells. It is soooo good. And do you think mom would even try it? No, but that means I get to eat it all!
Dearest family and friends,

How are you guys doing?
I got sick in my stomack and felt sick all day long. But having Punkin right beside me sure helped.
Barbara, how did you make that so furry? She really looks like Punkin and I absolutely love her.
Evan thinks I am crazy but if I cannot have real Punkin, I am going to love her!

It got really cool in the afternoon. I was in the office all afternoon and did the Bishops warehouse tally.

It amazing most of the family get 10 kg of rice and 10kg of beans!!! each month.
Their rice is just like our long grain rice, very dry.

For my lunch I had Almond butter sandwich! Thank you, girls! I normally hate chunky style peanut butter but since this was Almond, it was wonderful.

Right now Punkin is sitting on my lap. Of course I slept with her last night.

I still have to do Bishop's warehouse project tomorrow. I hope I will feel better soon.

Since they told us that there is no heating in our office nor in our apartment, I am knitting skirf right now.

I think I am going to eat almond butter sandwich for dinner.

Today one of the sister missionary let me borrow Portugues CD. I hope they will help!!!

I will send you a picture of Punkin !
She is really cute!!

I miss and love you!!!

Dearest family and friends,

It is Sunday! Little cooler but still it was hot!!!

On the way to church I saw another ugly warm!!! There are tons of dog poos, warm, and rough unpaved side walk. So when I walk my eyes are glue to a ground.

We had lunch at home and did not go out at all.

But I am already sleepy! I think I got what Evan had! Bad headach and little soar throught.I did my knirring tody.
They said it will get really cold so I am preparing for that.

Another quiet nothing special day.

I am still upset that we had a leap year! I have to be on mission one day more than I expected.

I hope and pray everything is well with you all.

I miss and love you!!!

Dearest family and friends,

Evan told you guys that I spoke lots of Japanese but that is not true.
There were pnly 2 men who speaks and understand Japanese.

Today is Saturday so I just relaxed all day. It is so much cooler today and hope this will last forever!

Nothing to write today. Just cool and quiet!!!

I am missing you so much and I love you all!!!

Hiroko
Obaachan was right, yesterday was a great day. Hiroko spoke a lot of Japanese yesterday and I kept remembering Pres. Johnson's blessing to her when she was set apart as a missionary, that she would use her native language--she sure did!
I'll send some photos of the clinic as soon as I get it off the DVD they gave us.

I'm attaching a ton of photos that all look alike and everyone is going to wonder why. Well it's to show the beautiful park that I go to as often as I can for exercise. The first few pictures are of the street that I walk to get to the park and the last few pictures are of the streets that I use to go back home.

WARNING: This could be extremely boring, so after the first few pictures just click out of the blog.  You've been warned!
